The texting shorthand dictionary: The meaning of lol, lmao, rotfl, fdl, rofl, lmfao, gtg, ttyl, imao, ttfn, what it means
78lol, lmao, brb, ttyl, ttfn. Etcetera. You see these in text messaging, mass text messaging, commercials, online, etc. Even in text message advertising, you see it now. You ever wonder what any of this means? So do a lot of people, I bet. For young folks, the meaning of these words practically comes second-hand by now. But not everyone knows what all of these words means. Do your parents know what these mean? Does your sms provider even know what half of these mean? Parents whose children own cell phones, do you know what most of these mean?
If you answered 'no' to this, then that is why I wrote this. You might even start using them in your texting or IMing or Facebook posting lives. If you own a Blackberry, o2, Treo or other new smartphone with a full keyboard, you might use them less, but if you have a non-pda flip phone, they do tend to save a lot of time. Don't overuse them, though, or even you might lose the ability to understand yourself. Nevertheless, here is what I know. I'll try to define as many as I can think of.
